Introducing the “new” ketokarma.com!

The day is finally here! My husband, Mick and I have been working hard to bring this new and improved blog to life, and I’m so excited to share it with all of you!

First things first, the new logo! In the past three years the symbolism of the lotus flower has really struck a chord with me. Lotus flowers grow from muddy waters, yet rise above, and blossom. This is a beautiful reminder that regardless of the “muddy” or difficult times in our lives, we all have the ability to grow, rise above and blossom.

With that in mind, I really feel like this is the perfect symbol for the new logo. My hope and dreams for this blog is to help and encourage as many people as possible. To show people that it’s truly never too late to change your life.

What am I going to be writing about?

Keto: I’ll be sharing all of the things I’ve learned over the last three years, in an easy to understand format. Helpful tips, recommendations, articles, and more.

Life: I love to write about life, change, struggles, positivity, and growth. I’ve had my fair share of struggles, but who hasn’t? I think it’s so important that we all talk about the real and raw emotions of life. No one should ever have to feel alone, or struggle in silence. We are all truly more alike than we are different.

Recipes: After writing Simply Keto, I’ve developed a hobby for creating easy and delicious low-carb recipes. Whenever I create a new recipe, I will share it here under the recipe tab, found in the top homepage menu.

YouTube: Although this is technically separate from the blog, I will be posting all of my upcoming YouTube videos here. I plan on filming a variety of videos on things like; keto topics/tips, recipe videos, grocery hauls, weight-loss ups and downs, and more.

Lastly, I want to thank all of  you for your continued support throughout the last three years. I feel so honored and humbled by all of your kind words, messages, comments, and encouragement.

Self-Love

My goodness where has this week, wait…where has this YEAR gone? Can you guys believe there are only a little over 12 weeks left until 2018?!

I’ve been busy finishing the final edits of my new book, Simply Keto, as well as working on a redesign for this blog (coming VERY soon…), and of course my most important job, raising my beautiful little girl.
Yesterday I had bit of a rough (emotional) day. My daughter’s school had their first field trip, and it was the first time that all of the parents were together for an extended period of time. Although I love to meet new people, I was nervous and full of anxiety. I had this overwhelming feeling that I didn’t fit in, or that I wasn’t good enough, or as “put together” as the other parents.

You see, I always thought that losing weight would make those feelings go away, but the truth is that this is an ongoing battle, with plenty of past hurt and self-doubt to repair. I spent a lot of years walking with my head down, and honestly, for many years I assumed that some people wouldn’t want to get to know me, or would pass judgement on me simply because I was morbidly obese.  I’ve come to realize that this is a twofold problem; of course, with half of the problem being me.

While the world can be cruel and some people may pass judgement, my self-doubt and anxiety held me back yesterday just as much as it did when I was obese. Do people treat me differently now, yes…but in some ways, that’s because on most days I’m more outgoing, more present, and I let people in…well let’s just scratch yesterday on that front because well, it doesn’t always work out perfectly.

My point is that losing weight doesn’t solve everything, it’s not the answer to everything you’ve been looking for or feeling…the truth is that you hold the key to the happiness you deserve as you are right now. Self-love is always a work in progress, so don’t put of loving yourself until you reach your “goal” weight. I was sad and disappointed with myself yesterday, but today I’m processing it all and learning from it. Life isn’t always as pretty and put together as it all seem, but you know what…scars and wounds of the past teach us compassion, they have a way of showing us the things in life that truly matter, and reveal an inner beauty that is rarely found in someone who hasn’t faced their fair share of struggles. Use your pain to make you better, not bitter.

Keto Karma’s Simply Keto

Simply Keto

I am SO excited to officially announce what I’ve been working on for the last year! I’m writing a book called Simply Keto! A little over two years ago when I started this journey I never would have imagined making this very announcement. I had spent so many years spinning my wheels, only to gain more weight, and lose more hope with each failed “diet” attempt.

Procedures: Lower body lift, tummy tuck with muscle repair, liposuction to the thighs and flanks, breast lift, fat grafting (from lipo) to breast. (400 CC each)

Total removed: 7.7 lbs of skin/tissue.

Loose Skin – Plastic Surgery

Hey guys! If you follow me on social media then you know that I’ve announced that I will be having some of my loose skin removed on October 5th, 2016. After losing 110 lbs, I feel so much better, and now this is just the next step for me. I did A LOT of research, and met with several surgeons before deciding. Ultimately,  with the help of my plastic surgeon, I decided to have a lower body lift, tummy tuck, breast lift, liposuction, and fat grafting (from the liposuction) to my breast (instead of getting implants). I’m not against implants, it’s just that I still have quite a bit of breast tissue, and really don’t think it’s needed at this time.

My surgeon is Dr. Stephen Ronan from Blackhawk Plastic Surgery, in Danville, CA. (San Francisco Bay Area). Dr. Ronan has an impressive reputation, a fully accredited,  state-of-the-art, on-site surgery center, and I just instantly felt comfortable and confident in his opinion. I can’t stress enough how important it is to make sure your surgeon is board certified in plastic surgery, has great reviews, and makes you feel comfortable. Having surgery is a major decision, and come surgery day you need to feel confident and safe with your surgeon. I recommend checking out Real Self for plastic surgery reviews!

I will be filming several videos to document my surgical journey/progress, and will share any helpful information with all of you! Even though this is difficult to share, I feel like it may help others facing the same issue, so here I am! You all have been the most incredible support system, and I can’t thank you enough!
